FALAFEL EASY RECIPE

 



Falafel is a deep fried ball or patty made from ground chick peas, fava beans or both. Falafel is a traditional Arab food, usually served in a pita, which acts as a pocket, or wrapped in a flatbread known as lafa; “falafel” also frequently refers to a wrapped sandwich that is prepared in this way. The falafel balls are topped with salads, picked vegetable, hot sauce, and drizzled with tahini based sauces. Falafel balls may also be eaten alone as a snack or served as part of a mezze. 

Generally accepted to have first been made in Egypt, falafel has become a dish eaten throughout the Middle East. The Copts of Egypt claim to have first made the dish as a replacement for meat during Lent. The fritters are now found around the world as a replacement for meat and as a form of street food.

 INGREDIENTS

1. Chick peas         Grams 200

2. Onions                 Grams 35

3. Garlic                 Grams 10

4. Parsley                 Grams 50

5. Fresh coriander       Grams 30

6. Roasted cumin powder Grams 3

7. Salt                 To taste  

8. White pepper To taste

9. Green chilli         Grams 10

10. Refined oil For frying

11. Lemon juice         Ml 15

12. Sumac powder Grams 10

13. Sesame seeds         Grams 10

 METHOD

1. Soak chick peas over night.

2. Combine all the ingredients and blend together. But do not make a paste, it should be coarse.

3. Make tikkis and deep fry.

4. ENJOY hot with pita bread and tahini yogurt dip.
